Strictly: Fun, Frivolity and Friskiness

6th October 2017

Dance Class and Instructor News
Strictly Come Dancing is well underway, with week 3 of the competition this Saturday. This years competition is matching the fun, frivolity and friskiness of previous seasons!

On Stage...

Chizzy Akudolu and partner Pasha Kovalev were the first couple to leave this years show. They are a fine example of the friendship and fun that can blossom through dance, with Chizzy speaking of her experience with the professional dancer fondly: "I have loved every minute dancing with him and it will continue, because I will just be going round his house to dance now!".

This week is themed, and the stars are getting ready for Saturday night at the movies! Tune in for a chance to see Ruth and Anton Rumba to the James Bond hit song 'Diamonds are Forever', Simon and Karen Quickstep to the Toy Story classic 'You've Got a Friend in Me' and Davood and Nadiya perform the Samba to 'Stayin' Alive' from the apptly named Saturday Night Fever.

Behind the Scenes...

The stars have been working hard this year - but there is no doubt that they are having fun, too! For the professionals the dance rehearsals may be a breeze, but the dance lessons are taking their toll on the celebs who aren't used to the pace and exertion of dance. Watch this behind the scenes clip to see some of the celebs hard at work in preparation for this weeks show: work hard, play hard.

Strictly Scandal!

Of course, it wouldn't be Strictly without a scandal! Alexandra Burke's partner Gorka Marquez has started dating rival contestant Gemma Atkinson, leaving Alexandra "furious" and fearing it will impact her chances of winning the show. This is the first time in the show's history that a contestant has hooked up with a dancer other than their own partner. Drama!

More than dancing...

As you can see from the stars' antics - the show isn't just about the dancing, and neither are ballroom dance classes! As well as improving fitness levels, learning new skills and building confidence, they are a great way of socialising with people that have similar interests to you.
